On April 15, 2013, the Official site of the Washington Redskins featured Coach Myron Miller and For Underdogs Only. Writer Alex Corddry interviewed Redskins guard, Chris Chester about his experience playing for Coach Miller at Tustin High School in Tustin, California. In the article Chester reveals that he, “Was excited to announce that Miller, the man who impacted his life and the lives of many young athletes has a book that’s been published about him.”
OVER 30 DIVISION 1 SCHOLARSHIPS
Chris Chester’s story appears in For Underdogs Only along with the stories of fourteen other players and one wrestler. All of their stories converge along with Miller’s to reveal how the underdog coach influenced a multitude of athletes to excel. Over the years Miller is responsible for driving his players to earn over 30 Division I scholarships. Chester himself earned a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma before he played for the Baltimore Ravens, and now the Washington Redskins. Other players coached by Myron Miller earned scholarships to schools such as: The University of Arizona, The University of California at Berkeley, The University of California at Los Angeles, The University of Nevada Las Vegas, The University of Oregon, The University of Southern California, Duke University, Harvard University, Stanford University.
Currently, three of Miller’s former athletes play for NFL teams. Sam Baker returns to the Atlanta Falcons this year, and Frostee Rucker to the Arizona Cardinals. Other former NFL players hailing from Miller include: Beau Bell, Cleveland Browns; DeShaun Foster, San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers; and Matt McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles.
